    Description

This listing is for a Souvenir Program of KEN MURRAY'S BLACKOUTS OF 1942 and a one page program of the show.
These items belonged to my mother, who lived in Los Angeles during WWII while my father was stationed there in the Navy.
The Ken Murray Blackouts was a racy, stage variety show featuring Marie Wilson among others.
    This
    souvenir
program is from the first season of the show.
It opened at the El Capitan Theatre on Vine Street in Hollywood on 06/24/42 and ran from 1942 to 1949.
The front cover of the Souvenir Program is printed in Red, black, and white and features Ken Murray, Marie Wilson, and Daisy (the dog from the BLONDIE movie series based on the comic strip by Chic Young).
The back cover is also in red, white, and black and features a full-page pin up of Marie Wilson.
Inside are black & white photos and bios of the cast which included Desi Arnaz, the Nicholas Brothers, Gene Austin, Fred Sanborn, Roy Davis, Park & Clifford, Vivian Marshall, Julia Rooney, Helen Charleston, Maidi & Ray, Loraine Page, and The 1942 Glamour Lovelies.
The Souvenir Program measures 8 ½” by 11”. It is in excellent vintage condition with no markings and only minimal scuffs as to be expected with it’s age.
The one-page program is also in excellent vintage condition although yellowed with age as to be expected with news print type paper from that era. It measures approximately 11 ½” by 5 ½”.
It includes advertisement for Maison Gaston Restaurant (where a complete French dinner was eighty cents!), Christine Terp’s Royal Confection shop, and C.C. Brown’s World Famous Hot Fudge Sundaes (which the program notes was closed on Sundays “during sugar shortage”).
These two wonderful pieces of memorabilia would be a great addition to your collection!
Thanks for looking! Please feel free to email with any questions.
